So here I find myself in Canada for the holidays. Yes, I know most people go to warmer climates in the winter, but I guess I am just a bit weird. However, I come by my weirdness naturally since my parents came here first. We're all certifiable. Last time I was here the landscape was stunning, with glowing golden canola fields set against clear blue skies and deep evergreens. The radiant colors of summer may be gone, but the beauty remains in the crisp, soft pearly snow. There is a thick (and when I say thick I mean about 3 feet) layer on everything. In the picture to the left, the tire swing is actually about 2 and a half feet off the ground. I got snow down my boots trying to get that picture.
The weather outside may be reminiscent of Narnia under the White Witch, but its warm and holiday spirits run high inside. My mom invited some teenagers over from their church to decorate cookies and other goodies for Sunday night fellowship. We had fun drizzling, dabbing, icing and yes, licking. I felt a bit redeemed in my artistic talent, but I know if my sisters were around, I would have been relegated to watching :)
